Middle Kids is an up and coming band from Sydney Australia, and my first band from that country here on Musicvideoalert. Middle Kids have gotten great reviews from Rolling Stone, Sunday Times Culture, and even been featured on the Conan O`brien show.
They just released the video “On my knees” which is part of their debut album “Lost friends” being released next month. The band is made up of Hannah, Tim and Harry.
“On my knees” is a funny montage video featuring different people doing an audition, not a very original concept in it`s own but it works nicely with the song.
The actors in the video are doing a great job, and there are a bunch of hilarious characters featured.
The music is what really hits you the most with this piece, and it gives you this vintage feel. The feeling you get with a band that has like this old soul, it`s hard to explain it but think of bands as “Jefferson airplane”. There is something free-spirited about the Middle Kids.
Hannah has a great voice which shines through on the great chorus, and they deliver som truly catchy hooks.
The band also has an explanation for what the song is about.
“about rejecting the value system of the individual as the prime unit of society. It’s also about how suffering and disappointment can help change our perspective in a healthy way. When we stop focus on winning and can submit to something bigger, or to each other, we are better people.”
This is a song that really grows on you, so my advice…. if you don’t like…. hear it twice 😉
